Dear Musicians:

The Pierce House is looking forward to working with you. In order to avoid potential misunderstandings, we want to review house policies. We assume this information will be made clear to the person(s) working at the house.

Unloading of equipment must be handled from the driveway. Because of the historic nature of the landscape, driving on the lawn is prohibited. There will be a $50 charge for each infraction. After unloading musicians will be directed by detail officer to appropriate parking lot.

Musicians are reminded that house and town rules supersede any contractual obligations.

Music is permitted Outdoors on Friday and Saturday evenings until 11 PM Last songs should begin no later than 10:45. Power will be cut promptly @ curfew time. Sunday through Thursday, music is permitted outdoors until 9PM. Indoor music is permitted until 11PM

Amplified music is permitted within reason, but during summer months when windows are open, the sound must be kept to a reasonable level. That level is defined as 85 decibels; measured at the far end of the dance floor. After 10pm on weekend evenings, the House may insist that volume be lowered to 80 decibels. Bass amplification has been particularly troublesome. Sub-woofers are not permitted.  Guests must be able to converse without significantly raising voices. Musicians must remember that quests are here for a wedding-not a concert. It is the musicians responsibility to monitor their volume levels; a house staff member will be available for a sound check, once band/DJ is set up. Should musicians exceed decibel levels, one verbal warning shall be given. Repeated violations may result in power being cut off and the musical group being prohibited from returning to the Pierce house in the future.

The tent area surrounding the musicians must be enclosed, and speakers must face the house, or the woods off the south side of the house.

Electrical capacity is limited to a few standard 110v outlets.

Musicians and disk jockeys are expected to bring their own auxiliary equipment such as tables, table covers, extension cords etc. If you need help with such items, your client can make arrangements through the caterer.

Bands larger than 7 pieces require special permission (this includes sound personnel). The tent area surrounding the musicians must be enclosed, and speakers must face the house. There is a service restroom on first floor for changing.

Bands may not:

  • Invite friends or clients to the property.
  • Move/use house furniture outdoors without prior permission.

Bands should ‘bus’ their area for glassware, debris etc.
